Why OurDream AI costs more than the subscription line suggests

OurDream's own FAQ puts the economics in one sentence, and it is worth reading slowly: every 1,000 DreamCoins covers roughly 200 images, 20 minutes of voice calls, or 10 videos, and unlimited messages are included on every paid plan.

So texting really is unmetered, which is to OurDream's credit. Everything else is not. Premium includes 1,000 coins a month. If voice is what you use, that is about twenty minutes of calls a month, or forty seconds a day, before you are buying top-ups. The cheapest top-up is 1,000 coins for $11.99, which works out at roughly 60 cents a minute of voice. The biggest pack, 20,000 coins for $159.99, brings that down to about 40 cents a minute.

The interface also meters smaller things than people expect. OurDream's own scene-image setting charges 5 coins for each generated scene, and it can be set to fire after every single message. Leave that on for a long evening and the balance goes quietly.

The same Premium plan carries three different annual prices

This is the finding that explains why review sites disagree about OurDream's price, and nobody else seems to have looked for it.

OurDream's pricing configuration contains named price experiments for the annual Premium plan. The default, labelled control, is $119.88 a year, shown as $9.99 a month. A variant labelled 40-off is $143.88, shown as $11.99 a month. A variant labelled 60-off is $95.88, shown as $7.99 a month. Which one a visitor sees depends on the experiment bucket they land in, so two people comparing notes can both be right and still be $48 apart on the same plan.

Every variant also displays a crossed-out original price of $39.99 a month with a 50 percent discount on the monthly plan. Because the discount is written into every variant, it is the standing price rather than a sale that is about to end. None of this is unusual in consumer subscriptions, but it is worth knowing before you treat an on-screen countdown as a reason to hurry.

What OurDream AI does better, honestly

If you want generated images and video of a character you designed, OurDream is built for that and we are not. Gals.ai does not generate images or video at all, and there is no point pretending a texting companion replaces a media generator.

OurDream is also cheaper than us for unlimited texting on an annual plan. Premium at its default annual price is $9.99 a month with unlimited messages and 1,000 coins, while our unlimited tier, Sweetheart, is $19 a month billed yearly. If you want many characters, a public library to browse and pictures on demand, OurDream Premium at the annual price is a reasonable buy and this page will not talk you out of it.

Where it stops being reasonable is when the thing you actually value is the conversation with one person who knows you, because that is exactly the part OurDream keeps behind its most expensive tier. The larger chat memory, 3x the Premium amount, is Deluxe only, at $59.99 every 30 days.

Which OurDream AI alternative fits which person

OurDream publishes its own comparison pages against Character.AI, Janitor AI, Spicychat, Chai and Candy AI, which is a fair map of who it thinks its competitors are. They are not all substitutes for the same need, so match the alternative to the reason you are leaving.

If you liked the character library and want more of it, a character platform like Spicychat or Janitor AI is the nearer match. Before you switch, cancel OurDream the way its own policy describes

OurDream's Refund Policy says you may cancel at any time through your account settings or by emailing [email protected]. After cancelling, the subscription stays active to the end of the current billing period and you are not charged again. Unused portions of a billing period are generally non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise.

Two parts of that policy matter more than they look. First, the 14-day right of withdrawal applies only to consumers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. US buyers get the discretionary quality guarantee instead: report a defect within 14 days and OurDream may offer a credit, a replacement or a refund, case by case. Second, crypto payments are final and non-refundable, and OurDream's checkout text adds that crypto pays for the subscription only, so DreamCoins are not added on a crypto purchase.

The policy also warns that filing a chargeback without contacting support first can get your account suspended pending investigation. Email support before calling your bank, and keep the reply.

Hello is $9 a month billed yearly or $12 month to month, for daily texting with a companion who remembers your name and details. Sweetheart, $19 or $24, is the plan most people mean when they think of this product: unlimited texting, she messages you first, voice notes and deeper memory. Soulmate, $39 or $49, adds voice calls and more than one companion. Nothing on any plan is counted in coins, and you cancel from your own account settings.
