The short answer: SpicyChat is cheaper to start and cheaper for memory, and the top tiers cost almost exactly the same. SpicyChat's entry plan is $5.95 a month against $9.90 for PolyBuzz Standard. The plan where each app starts building memories on its own is SpicyChat True Supporter at $19.95 a month, while PolyBuzz keeps Permanent Memory for Ultimate at $29.90. At the top, SpicyChat I'm All In costs $29.95 a month or $299.95 a year, and PolyBuzz Ultimate $29.90 or $299. One more difference matters on iPhone: on 19 October 2026 neither app had a working listing of its own in Apple's US App Store.

A man on a train comparing two phones side by side

Most pages comparing these two are generated roundups that call both free, give each a score out of ten and list prices that do not match either vendor. Both apps publish their real prices if you know where to look. For SpicyChat we read its September 2026 Pricing Update FAQ and Premium Features pages on docs.spicychat.ai on 19 October 2026, with an invented page on the same site returning a 404 as a control. For PolyBuzz we use the prices we read first-hand in September from Apple's US listing and polybuzz.ai/membership, plus what its Google Play listing and Apple's store showed on 19 October. Nothing here comes from a review site.

SpicyChat vs PolyBuzz price, tier by tier

Both apps sell three paid tiers, monthly or yearly. Here they are side by side in US dollars before tax.

Two things stand out once you put the rows together. The middle and top tiers are priced within a dollar of each other, which is not a coincidence in a market this crowded. And the yearly discount is the same size on both: paying for a year saves about 16 to 17 percent against twelve monthly payments on every tier of both apps. Twelve months of PolyBuzz Ultimate is $358.80 against $299 a year, a $59.80 saving; twelve months of SpicyChat I'm All In is $359.40 against $299.95, a $59.45 saving.

The real price gap is at the bottom. SpicyChat's entry tier is $3.95 a month cheaper than PolyBuzz's, and $39 a year cheaper on the yearly plan. SpicyChat's own FAQ also says euro prices match the dollar prices, and lists separate pound prices for the UK.

SpicyChat raised every tier on 8 September 2026: Get A Taste from $5.00 to $5.95, True Supporter from $14.95 to $19.95 and I'm All In from $24.95 to $29.95. Subscribers from before that date keep the old price only while the plan stays active and unchanged, which is why the way you cancel SpicyChat matters more than it does for most apps. Our page on how to cancel SpicyChat without losing a locked price covers that in full.

Which is cheaper for memory, SpicyChat or PolyBuzz

This is where the two apps differ most, and it is the question that decides the bill for anyone who chats with the same character for weeks.

SpicyChat sells memory in two layers. Context memory is how far back a character can read in the current conversation: 4K tokens on Get A Taste, 8K on True Supporter, and up to 32K on I'm All In, though SpicyChat notes that not every model supports 32K. Separately, Semantic Memory 2.0 summarises important details into stored memories as you chat, and the character searches them when it replies. SpicyChat's Premium Features page gives Semantic Memory to True Supporter and above. Get A Taste only gets the Memory Manager, where you write memories in by hand.

PolyBuzz's own membership table, which we read on 17 September 2026, gives Standard and Premium the same Long Memory and reserves Permanent Memory for Ultimate alone, along with four extra chat models. The table on the page on 19 October still lists Permanent Memory and Long Memory as separate rows, now under the column names Basic, Premium and Ultimate.

So for memory that builds itself, SpicyChat costs $9.95 a month less, or $99.05 a year less on the yearly plans. That is the single biggest difference between the two price lists, and none of the roundups we checked mentions it. The caveat is that the vendors describe memory in their own terms, and neither publishes a number for how many facts it keeps, so the honest comparison is of what each one sells at each price, not of which remembers more.

If memory is the reason you are paying at all, our comparison of AI girlfriend apps with real long-term memory tests for it directly.

SpicyChat and PolyBuzz on iPhone and Android

Where you pay changes how you cancel and who refunds you, and this is the part of the comparison that moved most recently.

SpicyChat's own documentation says it has had no native iPhone app since Apple removed it in August 2025, and that its Android app is an APK downloaded from spicychat.ai rather than a Google Play listing. When we searched the US App Store on 15 October 2026, the app called AI Chat Bot, SpicyChat was sold by NADU SINGLE MEMBER P.C., not by SpicyChat's company. So almost every real SpicyChat subscription is paid on the website.

PolyBuzz was in the App Store in September, which is where we read its monthly prices. On 19 October 2026 its listing at Apple's address for id6449190344 returned a not-found page in the US store and in Brazil, exactly like an invented app ID we requested as a control, while Kindroid's listing loaded normally. Apple's lookup service returned nothing for that ID in the US, UK, Canada, Germany and Brazil. We do not know why, and Apple and PolyBuzz have published nothing about it, so we report only what the store showed. If you already pay PolyBuzz through Apple, the subscription is still managed in iPhone Settings under Subscriptions.

On Android PolyBuzz is live on Google Play as PolyBuzz: Chat with AI Friends, offered by CLOUD WHALE INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY LLC., rated Mature 17+, with more than 50 million downloads, ads, and in-app purchases from $0.05 to $599.00 per item. Its last update there was 21 September 2026.

Refunds and cancelling compared

Neither app is generous with refunds, and that is normal for this category. SpicyChat's Refund Policy, last updated 7 October 2026, says fees are non-refundable once you have logged in, partial months are not refunded, and crypto payments are excluded; refunds it does grant go back to the original payment method within ten days. You cancel under Manage Subscription in your profile, at least 24 hours before renewal.

PolyBuzz subscriptions are cancelled where they were bought: the web account for website payments, Google Play for Android and Apple for iPhone. Refunds for store purchases go through the store's own process. Our PolyBuzz Premium vs Ultimate breakdown goes through PolyBuzz's own plan table in detail, including the weekly plan that costs more over a year than the tier above it.

If you end up paying for two or three of these apps at once, the renewals land on different days and the small charges are easy to miss. A service that sends real-time alerts on card charges is a simple way to see each renewal the moment it posts, before the next one stacks on top.

Which should you pay for

Pick SpicyChat if you want the cheapest way in, if you want memory that builds itself without paying for the top tier, or if you like seeing and editing what the character remembers. Its $19.95 True Supporter plan is the best value of the six tiers for anyone who returns to the same characters.

Pick PolyBuzz if you want its character library on Android, where it has a large, active Play listing, and if you are willing to pay for Ultimate to get Permanent Memory. On iPhone, check the store yourself before you subscribe, since the listing was not available when we looked.

Both are built around browsing many characters. If what you actually want is one companion who knows you, the price question changes. Gals.ai has no coins, tokens or memory tiers: memory is on every plan, she texts you first, and messages are never counted. Hello is $9 a month billed yearly or $12 month to month, Sweetheart $19 or $24 with unlimited texting and her texting first, and Soulmate $39 or $49 with voice calls. Our pages on the SpicyChat alternative with flat pricing and the PolyBuzz alternative with long-term memory compare the options in more depth.

SpicyChat vs PolyBuzz questions

Is SpicyChat cheaper than PolyBuzz?

At the entry level, yes. SpicyChat Get A Taste is $5.95 a month against $9.90 for PolyBuzz Standard, and $60 a year against $99. The middle and top tiers cost almost the same: $19.95 against $19.90 and $29.95 against $29.90 a month. SpicyChat raised every price on 8 September 2026.

Which has better memory, SpicyChat or PolyBuzz?

SpicyChat sells automatic memory more cheaply. Its Semantic Memory 2.0, which writes memories as you chat, starts at True Supporter for $19.95 a month, and you can edit those memories. PolyBuzz keeps Permanent Memory for Ultimate at $29.90; Standard and Premium get Long Memory. Neither publishes how much it actually keeps.

How much is PolyBuzz Ultimate a year?

PolyBuzz Ultimate is $299 a year on polybuzz.ai, against $358.80 for twelve monthly payments of $29.90, a saving of $59.80. The yearly plans are sold on the website only; Apple's US list in September had no yearly plan. Prices read first-hand in September 2026, before tax.

Is PolyBuzz still on the App Store?

Not when we checked. On 19 October 2026 PolyBuzz's App Store address returned a not-found page in the US and Brazil, like an invented app ID, and Apple's lookup found nothing in five countries. PolyBuzz is still on Google Play with over 50 million downloads. Existing iPhone subscriptions are managed in iPhone Settings.

Can you get a refund from SpicyChat or PolyBuzz?

Rarely. SpicyChat's Refund Policy says fees are non-refundable once you have logged in and partial months are not refunded. PolyBuzz purchases made in Google Play or Apple are refunded, if at all, through the store's own process. Cancel before the renewal date rather than counting on a refund.
