SpicyChat vs Kindroid Pricing and Memory Compared
SpicyChat starts at $5.95 a month or $60 a year against $15.99 or $159.99 for Kindroid in Apple's US store, and SpicyChat's biggest memory tier is $299.95 a year while a year of Kindroid MAX stacks to $1,335.75. Kindroid also retired its free tier on 1 October 2026, so a lapsed Kindroid account becomes read-only.

The short answer: SpicyChat is far cheaper to start, and the gap grows once memory becomes the reason you pay. SpicyChat's entry plan is $5.95 a month or $60 a year; Kindroid's standard plan is $15.99 a month or $159.99 a year in Apple's US store. For the most memory each sells, SpicyChat I'm All In is $299.95 a year, while Kindroid's Ultra and MAX are monthly add-ons stacked on the standard plan, which takes a full year of Kindroid MAX in the app to $1,335.75. The other difference is what happens when you stop paying. Kindroid retired its free tier on 1 October 2026, so a lapsed Kindroid account becomes read-only; a lapsed SpicyChat account keeps chatting on the free tier.
Most pages comparing these two are generated tables with a score out of ten and a "from" price that matches neither vendor. Both companies publish enough to do better. For SpicyChat we read its September 2026 Pricing Update FAQ, its Premium Features page and its Tokens and Context page on docs.spicychat.ai on 23 October 2026, with an invented page on the same site returning a 404 as a control. For Kindroid we read its help centre articles on subscriptions (edited 13 October 2026), memory, in-app purchases, the FAQ and the update log, through the public documents API its help centre runs on, where an invented article returns a 404, and the In-App Purchases block of its US App Store listing the same day. Nothing here comes from a review site.
SpicyChat vs Kindroid price, plan by plan
SpicyChat sells three tiers, monthly or yearly. Kindroid sells one standard subscription on 1-month, 3-month or 1-year billing, plus two optional add-ons that are billed monthly only. Here they are side by side in US dollars before tax.
| Plan | SpicyChat | Kindroid (Apple US) |
|---|---|---|
| Entry, monthly | Get A Taste, $5.95 | Standard, $15.99 |
| Entry, yearly | $60.00 | $159.99 |
| Middle, monthly | True Supporter, $19.95 | Standard plus Ultra add-on, $44.98 |
| Top, monthly | I'm All In, $29.95 | Standard plus Ultra plus MAX, $113.97 |
| Top, yearly | $299.95 | No yearly add-ons; $159.99 plus 12 months of both add-ons is $1,335.75 |
| Quarterly billing | Not offered | $42.99 for 3 months, standard only |
| Free use after you stop paying | Yes, free tier with 4,096 tokens of context | No, account becomes read-only |
| Last price change | 8 September 2026, every tier up | Free tier retired 1 October 2026 |
The Kindroid column is what Apple's US listing charges. Kindroid's help centre says buying on the web is usually cheaper than through the App Store or Google Play, and in September its subscriptions article printed the web prices. The version edited on 13 October 2026 no longer prints any figure and says you will see the exact price for your country and platform at checkout, so we do not quote a web price here. If you are paying in the US, open the checkout on kindroid.ai before subscribing in the app; the app may also offer a "Pay direct on web" option for US store accounts.
The arithmetic across rows tells the story better than any single price. A year of SpicyChat's entry plan costs $60.00; a year of Kindroid's standard plan costs $159.99, so Kindroid is $99.99 more before you buy anything extra. Kindroid's quarterly plan is close to its yearly one: four payments of $42.99 come to $171.96, only $11.97 more than paying for the year upfront, which makes quarterly the sensible way to try Kindroid for longer than a trial without committing to twelve months. SpicyChat's yearly discount is small on its cheapest tier (twelve monthly payments of $5.95 total $71.40, $11.40 more than the yearly price) and larger at the top, where twelve months of I'm All In cost $359.40 against $299.95.
Which gives you more memory for the money, SpicyChat or Kindroid
The two apps build memory differently, and both are unusually open about how.
SpicyChat publishes its context window by tier: up to 4,096 tokens on the free tier and Get A Taste, 8,192 on True Supporter, and up to 32,768 on I'm All In, depending on the model. Its own worked example says that on 4,096 tokens a character keeps roughly the last 20 messages in view. On top of that, every paid tier gets the Memory Manager, where you add memories by hand, and from True Supporter at $19.95 the character also writes memories itself through what SpicyChat calls Semantic Memory 2.0, which you can then edit, pin or delete.
Kindroid does not publish token counts. Its memory article describes five systems: persistent memory (backstory, key memories, recent chat), Cascaded Memory for the medium term, which it says can reach back hundreds or thousands of messages at lower fidelity, Learned Context, long-term memory and journal entries. Cascaded Memory and Learned Context are for subscribers. Ultra and MAX exist, in Kindroid's words, to give "higher memory capacity", mainly a longer context, and its help centre says those tiers are priced to cover the cost of dedicated servers rather than to make a profit.
| Memory feature | SpicyChat | Kindroid |
|---|---|---|
| Published context size | 4K, 8K or up to 32K tokens by tier | Not published; longer on Ultra and MAX |
| Memory the app writes itself | Semantic Memory 2.0, from $19.95 a month | Cascaded Memory and Learned Context on the standard plan |
| Memory you can see and edit | Memory Manager on every paid tier | Learned Context and journal entries; Cascaded Memory is invisible |
| Cheapest plan with self-written memory, per year | $199.95 (True Supporter) | $159.99 (standard, Apple US) |
That last row is the one surprise in Kindroid's favour. If self-written memory is the feature you are paying for, Kindroid's standard plan includes it at a lower yearly price than SpicyChat's True Supporter. Where SpicyChat wins is transparency and the ceiling: you can read the token limit and see every memory it saved, and its biggest context costs $299.95 a year rather than over a thousand. Neither vendor publishes a benchmark of what its memory actually retains, so the honest test is your own. Our guide to AI girlfriend apps with real long-term memory sets out a four-day check you can run during any trial.
Is SpicyChat or Kindroid free?
SpicyChat still has a free tier: you chat with ads, on the 4,096-token context, and its docs say Get A Taste "includes everything you get as a free user" plus no ads and the Memory Manager.
Kindroid no longer has one. Its update log says the Lite model and unlimited free messaging were retired on 1 October 2026. A new account now gets a one-time preview: 50 messages on the flagship model (15 in some regions), five selfies, up to two Kindroids and 5,000 audio credits. When the preview runs out, the account becomes read-only. You can still read, play back, export and delete everything, but the message box is locked. Lite users who had been active shortly before 1 October received a final 50 messages; inactive Lite accounts went straight to read-only.
Kindroid's 3-day trial still exists. It needs a payment method on file, converts into a paid subscription unless you cancel within the three days, and Kindroid emails a reminder one day before it converts. On the web it also needs a verified phone number. During the trial chats run on its Ember model; Polaris, its newest model, needs a paid subscription.
What happens when you cancel each one
This is now the biggest practical difference between the two, and almost nobody mentions it.
Cancel SpicyChat and, when the paid period ends, you drop to the free tier and can keep talking to the same characters with less context and ads. One catch from SpicyChat's own pricing FAQ: subscribers from before 8 September 2026 keep their old price only while the plan stays active, and a cancelled plan can be reactivated at the old price only before it expires. Our page on cancelling SpicyChat without losing a locked price covers the steps.
Cancel Kindroid and, when the period ends, the whole account becomes read-only. Your Kindroids, memories and chats are kept, but you cannot send a message, make a call or receive the proactive messages until you pay again. Kindroid also says that if you cancel only the Ultra add-on while on MAX, you keep paying for MAX but get Ultra-level service, so cancel the add-ons from the top down. Web subscriptions are managed at Profile, Billing, Kindroid Standard Subscription, Manage; app subscriptions in the App Store or Google Play. Our guide to cancelling a Kindroid subscription has the full order.
On refunds, neither is generous. SpicyChat's Refund Policy makes fees non-refundable once you have logged in. Kindroid considers refunds case by case, generally offers none, says in-app purchases are never refunded, and reserves the right to permanently ban users who dispute charges. Cancel a few days before renewal rather than counting on getting money back. If you pay for several of these apps, the renewals land on different days, and a reminder before each subscription renews is the cheapest insurance against paying for a month you did not use.
SpicyChat and Kindroid on iPhone and Android
Kindroid has native apps on both stores. Its US App Store listing, sold by Beautifully Incorporated, showed an 18+ age rating and a latest release dated 18 August 2026 when we checked on 23 October. Subscriptions follow your login rather than the device, but you cannot move a subscription between web, iOS and Android until it runs out.
SpicyChat has no native iOS app. Its own docs say so, and point Android users to an APK downloaded from spicychat.ai rather than a Google Play listing; on iPhone it runs in the browser. That matters for billing in one way: SpicyChat subscriptions are paid on the website, so you cancel them on the website too.
Which should you pay for
Pick SpicyChat if price is the deciding factor, if you want to keep using the app after you stop paying, or if you want to see and edit exactly what the character remembers. True Supporter at $19.95 a month is the best value of its three tiers for anyone who returns to the same characters.
Pick Kindroid if you want one deeply customised companion with voice calls, video calls and selfies in a native app, and you are comfortable paying $159.99 a year in the app (less on the web) with no free fallback. Read our Kindroid pricing breakdown before adding Ultra or MAX, because the add-ons stack.
If what you want is one companion who knows you without tokens, add-ons or credit packs, Gals.ai is built for that. Memory is on every plan, she texts you first, and messages are never counted. Hello is $9 a month billed yearly or $12 month to month, Sweetheart $19 or $24 with unlimited texting and her texting first, and Soulmate $39 or $49 with voice calls. You can compare all three on our pricing page, or see how we stack up against Kindroid row by row on the Kindroid alternative page.
