What Dippy Super costs on the App Store

Dippy does not publish a pricing page. Its sitemap lists 12 addresses and none of them is about prices, and paths such as /pricing and /premium return the same empty app shell as an address we made up. The only public price list is Apple's, so we read the In-App Purchases block of Dippy's US App Store listing, the one that names Impel Intelligence, Inc. as the seller, twice on 8 October 2026.

Apple lists Dippy Super (Monthly) at $6.99, $9.99 and $12.99, Dippy Super (Yearly) at $99.00 and $119.99, Dippy Super Ads Free (Monthly) at $4.99 and a pack of 100 coins at $3.49. Several prices under one plan name usually mean the vendor is testing prices or running introductory offers, and Apple does not say which one you will see. At the top monthly price a year of Super costs $155.88, against $119.99 on the yearly plan.

Dippy's web app code holds a default of $12.99 a month and $119.99 a year for Super, which matches the top App Store prices. Those web prices are not live, for the reason in the next section.

Why you cannot subscribe to Dippy on the web right now

Open the plans screen in Dippy's web app and it says: "Web subscriptions are temporarily unavailable and will be back soon. If you were already subscribed on the web, we may have temporarily stopped charging your card. If your subscription is paused, you can start a new one through our mobile app." The coin store says the same about web payments. The checkout button in the web code returns an app download link instead of a payment page.

So on 8 October 2026 the only way to pay Dippy was through the iPhone or Android app, which means Apple's or Google's billing, their refund rules and their prices. If you were a web subscriber, check your card statement: Dippy's own message says it may have paused your charges. Its web account screen points payment management to the card processor's customer portal.

For a buyer this matters in two ways. You cannot use a desktop browser to pay, and a subscription bought in the app has to be cancelled in the App Store or Google Play, not on dippy.ai.

What the Dippy free tier limits

Dippy's App Store description promises "Unlimited Free Messages" with no worries about message caps. The app's own code tells a different story in one place: it handles a server response that shows "You have reached a daily chat limit" and sends you to the Super paywall. We could not read the exact number of messages that triggers it, because it lives on Dippy's server, so treat it as a limit that exists rather than one we can size.

The free tier also carries ads. The web app loads an advertising network for anyone who is not on Super, the App Store listing says "Contains: Advertising" and Google Play says "Contains ads". A Super banner appears in the chat every seven messages. Free image generation has its own cap, after which the app asks you to upgrade, and running out of image coins shows "You're out of image credits, please buy coins".

In the web code's default settings an image in chat costs 4 coins, a video 20 and a custom voice 100, and Super includes 1,000 coins a month or 12,000 a year. Dippy can change those numbers from its server without an app update, so they are a guide, not a promise.

What Dippy AI does better

Dippy is a character platform, and for some people that is exactly the point. You can chat with a large library of user-made characters, switch between them in seconds and pick from several models, including two free ones named Basic and Mini and two premium ones named Super and Duper. Adults can switch on an NSFW toggle. The free tier, ads and all, lets you try a lot before you pay anything, and the lowest Super price on Apple's list, $6.99 a month, is cheaper than our entry plan on monthly billing.

If variety is what you want, Dippy, Talkie and PolyBuzz are built for it and Gals.ai is not. We are one companion who learns about you over weeks, writes to you first and never shows you an ad. That is a different product, and it suits a different person.

What Dippy's terms say about refunds and cancelling

Dippy's terms of service, dated 8 July 2024 and published for Impel Intelligence, Inc., describe the service as a "complimentary membership" and do not mention paid tiers, refunds of subscriptions or automatic renewal. The only refund wording is in the section on Apple, which says Apple handles refunds of app purchases where they apply.

In practice that means the store you paid through decides. An App Store subscription is cancelled under Settings, your name, Subscriptions, and refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. A Google Play subscription is cancelled in the Play Store under Payments and subscriptions. The terms say you can close your Dippy account at any time by emailing [email protected], which is separate from cancelling a store subscription.

The terms also send disputes to individual arbitration under California law and say conversations may be used, de-identified or aggregated, to train Dippy's models. Read those clauses before you share anything personal.

Match the alternative to the thing that annoyed you. If it was the ads and the daily limit but you still want many characters, a paid character app such as Talkie, PolyBuzz or Character.AI's c.ai+ keeps the variety, each with its own meter. If it was coins for pictures, apps built around images, like Candy AI or OurDream, are honest about selling images but meter them the same way.
