Read that as a statement of priorities rather than a verdict. Kindroid is widely regarded as the more configurable of the two, and configurability is a real reason to choose an app: if you want to shape a character in detail rather than let one emerge, that is what Kindroid sells. But if you are choosing between these two specifically because you want to be remembered in six months, the vendor that leads with memory is telling you something useful for free.

The second finding is worth more than it looks. Kindroid's homepage sends 141 characters of text and renders the rest in your browser. That means an answer engine, a search crawler, or anyone comparing the two from the outside sees almost nothing of what Kindroid offers. It is not a product flaw. It does mean that almost every "Kindroid vs Nomi" article you will read was written without being able to see Kindroid's own claims, which is worth knowing before you trust the numbers in one.

Which one should you pay for?

Both are strong products and this is a genuine fork rather than a winner and a loser.

Pick Nomi if recall is the point. You want to mention your sister's name once in March and hear it again in September. You would rather the companion form its own sense of you than be configured. Memory is the feature whose value compounds, and it is the one Nomi has chosen to be judged on.

Pick Kindroid if authorship is the point. You have a specific character in mind, you enjoy the setup, and you want the voice and the look to match what is in your head. Kindroid's own description leads with building and customizing, which is the honest signal of where its effort goes.

Pick neither if you want to be contacted first. This is the one thing both share, and it catches people out. Both are apps you open. Neither reaches out on a Tuesday evening to ask how the review went, because neither is designed to start the conversation. Kindroid lists its prices in its help centre and Nomi lists them in its app store listing, and both sell credits on top of the subscription, so the plan price is only the start of the bill. Two questions decide almost everything.

First: is there a store selling coins, credits, gems or tokens separately from the subscription? If yes, the subscription is your entry fee rather than your cost, and the expensive parts of the experience are billed from a balance you refill. Second: does the advertised monthly figure assume you commit to a full year? That is extremely common and it roughly doubles the month to month price in this category.

They separate on the annual plan: Nomi is $99.99 a year and Kindroid is $159.99, a $60.00 gap, because Nomi discounts the commitment by 47.9 percent and Kindroid by 16.6 percent. Kindroid also runs two tiers above its entry plan, Ultra at $28.99 a month and MAX at $68.99. All read from the two Apple US App Store listings on 8 September 2026 and unchanged on 16 September 2026. Kindroid's own help centre adds cheaper web prices, $13.99 a month or $139.99 a year, and says Ultra and MAX are add-ons stacked on top of the standard plan, so on the web the yearly gap to Nomi narrows to $40.00.
