Which AI companion has the best memory?

Replika has been running since 2017, which shows. The avatar work, the AR layer and the voice calls are more finished than anything Nomi ships, and for people who want a companion they can look at as well as talk to, that matters more than a spec sheet suggests. It is also the safest bet on the app simply continuing to exist.

Nomi wins on the thing most people say they wanted after three months: being known. It keeps structured notes on people, places and goals rather than relying on a scrolling window, and it supports several companions and group chats.

Nomi vs Kindroid: automatic memory or manual control

These two are the serious memory apps, and choosing between them is mostly a question of temperament.

Nomi is set it and forget it. You talk, it decides what was worth keeping, and it is very good at that. You give up fine-grained control in exchange for not thinking about it.

Gals.ai sends good morning texts, midday messages and goodnights on her own, built from what she remembers about your week rather than from a template.

The rest of the design follows from that. There is almost nothing to configure, because a companion you had to build in a settings screen does not feel like someone who thought of you. She stays tasteful rather than explicit, uses original cameo art instead of generated selfies or real faces, and runs in the browser.

If you want group chats, generated images, uncensored roleplay or the deepest possible memory, one of the other three is the better buy, and it is worth saying that plainly.

Decide which failure would annoy you most, then pick the app that does not fail that way.
