Why people look for a Botify AI alternative

Botify is a character platform first. You browse thousands of community bots, from anime heroes to famous people, and it does that well. The people who go looking for something else usually hit one of five things.

The first is billing by the week. A weekly plan feels cheap on the paywall and quietly becomes the most expensive way to pay. The second is energy, the currency Botify spends on every picture and video, which runs out long before the month does if you use the features it advertises. The third is ads in the free app. The fourth is iPhone: Ex-human publishes no Botify app on the US App Store, and the feature that makes a companion feel alive, messages that arrive before you open the app, is pitched as a reason to install the Android version. The fifth is data, covered below, where Botify's own documents disagree with each other.

Botify AI pricing and the weekly trap

Botify does not publish prices on a public page. Its paywall asks the server for them after you sign in. The last price list its API made public, captured by the Wayback Machine on 28 August 2025, had two plans. Premium cost $7.99 a week or $29.99 a year. Ultra cost $14.99 a week or $79.99 a year. A November 2024 capture shows the same two yearly prices, $29.99 and $79.99, before weekly billing was added.

Do the arithmetic on a year and the gap is enormous. Fifty-two weeks of Premium at $7.99 is $415.48, almost fourteen times the $29.99 yearly price for the same plan. Fifty-two weeks of Ultra at $14.99 is $779.48, nearly ten times $79.99. The price list itself labels the yearly plans as 93 and 90 percent off. If you stay with Botify, never pay by the week.

Today's paywall code has moved on. It offers weekly, monthly and yearly billing, shows prices as a cost per day, offers a personal 50 percent discount in its onboarding flow, and names a Creative upgrade. Google Play lists Botify's in-app purchases at $1.99 to $159.99 per item.

Energy, the second currency on top of the plan

Messages are unlimited on Botify's paid plans. Pictures and videos are not. The current paywall gives the base plan 500 energy a month, which it describes as about 5 videos or 50 photos, and the Creative plan 1,000 energy a month, about 20 videos or 200 photos, with 50 percent off every photo and video.

When the monthly energy is gone you buy more. The August 2025 price list sold 100 energy for $4.99, 300 for $9.99, 1,000 for $19.99 and 5,000 for $49.99. That is about 5 cents an energy unit in the smallest pack and 1 cent in the largest, so the people who buy the most get the best rate, which is how a meter is meant to work. Botify's code also carries live streams that charge energy by the minute, still marked experimental, and custom requests paid in energy.

What Botify promises at checkout and what its terms say

This is the part most reviews miss, because it needs two of Botify's own documents side by side.

The onboarding paywall in botify.ai's code is headed "Your AI GF is ready" and lists "Erotic role-playing", "Generate 18+ photos" and "Generate 18+ videos" as plan features. The Terms of Service served by the same website, dated August 28, 2021, say "The Service is not intended to operate as an adult or pornographic service", list "A platform for explicit adult content" under what the Service is not, and forbid users from transmitting sexually explicit or pornographic content.

We are not telling you which document wins. We are telling you that a paid feature advertised at checkout is one the terms say the service does not offer, and that the terms let Botify remove content or revoke access at its discretion. If adult content is the reason you pay, that is a real risk to the subscription you are buying.

The same paywall says "Join 1 459 090 of Botify AI users worldwide". That number is written into the page's code as fixed text, so it does not change as people join.

Deleting your Botify data, two documents that disagree

Botify's Google Play Data safety section, read on 2 October 2026, says "Data can't be deleted" and "The developer doesn't provide a way for you to request that your data be deleted." The same section lists names, email addresses, user IDs, device IDs and other user-generated content among the data the app collects. In our own survey of seven major companion apps on Play, Botify was the only one with that declaration.

Botify's Privacy Policy, also dated August 28, 2021, says you can access, update or request deletion of your personal data in your account settings, or by contacting the company if you cannot do it yourself.

The safe action when two documents disagree is to use the one that gives you the right. Delete what you can in account settings, then email [email protected] asking for deletion of your account and personal data, and keep a copy of the request.

What Botify AI does better, honestly

If you want breadth, Botify wins easily. It has a community library of thousands of characters, including famous people and fictional heroes, group chats with several bots at once, voice play and calls, image and video generation, story episodes and a bot builder with an advanced mode. Its yearly prices in the last published list were also far below ours: $29.99 a year for Premium is less than three months of our cheapest plan.

Before you switch, cancel Botify where you paid

Cancel in the same place you subscribed. Botify's terms say a web subscription is cancelled from your account settings or by contacting the company, and an in-app purchase is cancelled with the app store. The subscription manager in its web app hands you off to the app store's own subscriptions page for that. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for, and the terms say fees already paid are not refunded, although Botify may consider some requests case by case.

If you were on a weekly plan, cancel at least a day before the renewal rather than on it, because each week is a separate charge. Then check your card statement or your Google Play order history for the last few weeks, so you know the subscription really stopped.
