Why people look for a CrushOn AI alternative

CrushOn has a real audience, and most of the reasons people go looking elsewhere come down to the meter.

Every CrushOn tier is sold as a number of Message Credits per month. The pricing copy renders each plan's allowance as "{count} Message Credits / Month", and when you run out, the site shows a modal telling you that you are out of messages, with a button to the subscription plans. The FAQ explains the top-up route: coins convert one to one into bonus messages, and you can also buy packs of 1,000 or 3,000 messages with money. Bigger models make it worse, because some cost a multiple of the normal rate; the copy reads "This model will cost {price}x credits."

The second reason is memory, and it is the one people type into Google as "crushon ai bad memory". CrushOn caps how much of a chat each tier can browse. The upgrade prompt is blunt: "Standard membership can only browse 300 messages, upgrade to browse more." On the free tier, the pricing copy adds that "Chat History will be deleted after 7 days of inactivity."

The third is the price of making the counter go away, which we come to below. It is the single number that decides whether CrushOn is cheap or expensive for you.

What CrushOn AI costs, tier by tier

CrushOn's plan list, as its own API returned it on 3 May 2026, carries five tiers open to new subscribers, each monthly or yearly. The monthly prices are Standard $5.99, Premium $14.99 against a list price of $19.99, Luxe $39.99, Elite $89.99 and Imperial $199.99. The yearly prices are Standard $58.88, Premium $94.88, Luxe $299.99, Elite $799.99 and Imperial $1,799.99.

Do the annual maths and the gaps are wide. A year of Premium billed monthly is $179.88 against $94.88 billed yearly, so the yearly plan saves $85, almost half. Luxe is $479.88 a year monthly against $299.99 yearly. Imperial is $2,399.88 a year monthly against $1,799.99 yearly, which is still more than most people spend on their phone.

The number that matters most is the unlimited package. The same plan list prices each tier with and without an "unlimited chat bundle": Standard with the bundle is $45.99 a month, Premium with the bundle is $49.99, and Luxe with the bundle is $69.99. The standalone package list shows unlimited at $39.99 a month or $299.99 a year. In other words, unlimited messaging on CrushOn costs roughly $40 a month on top of whatever tier you are on, and CrushOn's own copy warns that the Unlimited package "is currently still in the testing phase, and in the future, it may be subject to changes in accordance with the rules of other companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic."

For comparison, unlimited texting on Gals.ai is part of Sweetheart at $19 a month billed yearly or $24 month to month, with no add-on and nothing counted.

How much chat history each CrushOn tier can see

This is the part no review page prints, and it explains most of the memory complaints.

CrushOn's plan list gives every tier a history limit, and its interface copy tells you what the number means: "Luxe membership can only browse 600 messages, upgrade to browse more." The limits are 200 messages on the free tier, 300 on Standard, 400 on Premium, 600 on Luxe, 1,000 on Elite and 1,500 on Imperial. At the top tier the prompt changes to "Imperial membership can browse 1,500 messages. You've reached the maximum limit." A separate line adds that "All branch messages share the same message limitation", so regenerated replies eat into the same allowance.

A long roleplay passes 300 messages in an evening or two. At that point, on Standard, the earliest part of the story is out of reach unless you upgrade. Separately, the pricing copy offers 8K memory on the free tier and access to 16K and 24K "memory models" further up, which is the size of what the model reads on each reply.

Gals.ai is built the other way around. There is one companion per account, so there is no per-character cap to hit, and she keeps the details you tell her, your job, your sister's name, the thing you were nervous about on Tuesday, and brings them up later.

What CrushOn AI does better, honestly

If you came to CrushOn for the catalog and the unfiltered switch, it is a strong product and pretending otherwise would not help you.

The character library is large and community-made, with rankings, public memories and group chats. The home page has an Unfiltered switch and a Hidden Content switch, and the site is built around mature roleplay with many characters at once. The cheapest tier, $5.99 a month, is a low entry price for someone who chats a little. And the yearly plans are genuinely discounted, so a patient buyer who knows their volume can pay less.

Gals.ai does none of that. There is no public character catalog, no group chat and no unfiltered mode. It is 18+ and flirty, but tasteful by default. If the catalog and the switch are why you use CrushOn, the fair advice is to compare it with Janitor AI or SpicyChat rather than with us.

"Sites like CrushOn AI" covers very different products, so start with what you want to keep.

If you want a big community library of characters and loose content rules, Janitor AI and SpicyChat are the closest match to CrushOn's style. If you want a large library with stricter filters, Character.AI is the biggest. If you want deep character creation for long stories and do not mind setting things up, Kindroid is built for that. Before you switch, cancel CrushOn the way its terms describe

CrushOn's Terms of Service, as archived on 20 September 2026, spell out the cancel path: "navigate to Profile → My Subscription → Manage → Cancel Subscription." Service stays active until the end of the billing cycle, and "Cancellations must be submitted before your next billing date. Failure to do so will result in a charge for the next billing cycle, which will not be refunded." The same section says CrushOn does "not offer partial refunds or credits for unused time, mid-cycle cancellations, or downgrades."

If you did not pay on CrushOn's own checkout, cancel where you paid. The FAQ says App Store and Google Play subscriptions are cancelled in the store, and that anyone who subscribed another way should use Manage Subscription "to return to the website where you pay your bill. Like, Subscribestar, Paymentwall, etc." The terms also name Basis Theory as the service that tokenizes card details.

One clause is worth reading before you consider a chargeback. The refund section says "We will not issue refunds of usage fees" and that if you dispute a charge, CrushOn may refuse future transactions from every card and account involved. The terms name the operator as TECHIEPIE LTD, a company registered in Cyprus, which is also the name you may see when you trace the charge.

What Gals.ai is, plainly

Gals.ai is a texting companion for adults who want one person on the other end rather than a menu of characters. You choose her look and name, talk to her the way you would text anyone, and she remembers what you tell her.

On Sweetheart and above, she texts you first: good morning, a question about the thing you mentioned yesterday, a note before you sleep. There are no credits, coins or tokens on any plan, and the price you see before signup is the price you pay. Hello is $9 a month billed yearly or $12 month to month, with daily texting and memory of your name and details. Sweetheart adds unlimited texting and her texting you first for $19 or $24. Soulmate adds voice calls for $39 or $49.
