How do I cancel my Replika subscription?

Open the store you bought it from, not the app.

If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, tap Replika, then tap Cancel Subscription. If you do not see Replika listed there, you did not pay through Apple, so try the next one. Apple shows you the renewal date on the same screen, which is the date you actually need to beat.

If you subscribed on Android, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, tap Payments and subscriptions, tap Subscriptions, choose Replika, then Cancel subscription. Play will ask for a reason and then confirm the date access ends.

If you subscribed on the web at my.replika.com, the charge went through Replika's own payment processor rather than a store. Sign in on the web, open the settings gear at the top right, and cancel from the subscription section there. This is the only route where the cancel control is on Replika's own property, and it is also the route most people did not use, because the app is where nearly everyone subscribes.

If you paid with PayPal, cancel the recurring payment agreement in PayPal itself under Automatic Payments. Replika's terms are explicit that it does not manage subscriptions bought through a third party marketplace, which includes PayPal billing agreements.

One check worth doing before you close the tab: go back into the store and confirm the subscription now shows an expiry date rather than a renewal date. That is the only proof it worked. A confirmation email is nice but the store screen is the record.

Does deleting the Replika app cancel the subscription?

No, and this is the single most expensive misunderstanding in the category.

Deleting an app removes it from your phone. It does not touch the billing agreement, because the agreement is between you and Apple or Google, not between you and the icon on your home screen. People delete the app in January, feel finished with it, and discover in June that five more charges went through. The store never told them, because from the store's point of view nothing changed.

The same applies to logging out, to letting the app sit unopened for a year, and to changing your Replika password. None of those is a cancellation. Replika's terms describe the renewal as continuing "automatically until canceled", and the cancel action they mean is the one in the marketplace.

There is one accidental exception. If the card on file expires and the payment fails, the terms say you drop to Free Use after seven days. That is not a cancellation either, strictly, but it does stop the money. It is a terrible way to manage it though, because a failed payment on an Apple ID can affect other subscriptions on the same account.

The reliable version is boring: cancel in the store, then check the store screen changed.

Can you get a refund on Replika Pro?

Not from Replika, and its terms say so plainly.

The document states that "refunds cannot be claimed for any partial-month subscription period". If you cancel on the third day of a month you paid for, you keep Pro for the remaining twenty seven days and then it stops. There is no pro rata return. On an annual plan the same logic applies over a much larger amount, which is why annual is the tier worth thinking hardest about before you buy.

That said, Replika is not usually the party who can refund you anyway. If you paid through Apple, the money went to Apple, and Apple runs its own refund process at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides case by case and does grant refunds, particularly for a charge that renewed within the last few days and was clearly unintended. Google Play has the equivalent process in your order history, with a similar window and similar discretion.

So the honest advice is: do not ask Replika, ask the store, ask quickly, and be specific about the charge date rather than about how you feel about the product. Stores refund billing accidents far more readily than buyer's remorse.

It is also worth noticing what is not published. We requested replika.com/refund, /refunds, /refund-policy and /cancel on 3 September 2026, and all four returned 404, while an invented control URL on the same domain also returned 404, which tells us the server is genuinely routing rather than answering everything the same way. The refund rule exists only inside the terms document. Nobody shopping for a companion app is going to find it before they pay, which is precisely why it is worth quoting here.

How do I delete my Replika account, and what happens to the conversations?

Cancel first, delete second, and never the other way round.

Deletion and cancellation are separate actions in separate places, and deleting the account does not automatically end a billing agreement held by Apple or Google. If you delete the account while a subscription is live, you can end up paying for an account you can no longer sign into. Stop the money, confirm it stopped, and only then remove the account.

The deletion itself is done from the app or the web client under settings, in the account section. Replika treats it as permanent: the companion, the conversation history, the memories and the level progress go with it, and there is no restore. If any of that matters to you sentimentally, copy out what you want to keep before you press it, because there is no export that carries a companion to another service either.

That last point catches people who assume they are moving rather than leaving. No companion app in this category offers an export that recreates a character with its history somewhere else. Anything advertising a transfer is rebuilding a persona from a written description, which gives you something that sounds similar for a week and then diverges. Whatever you choose next, you are starting the memory from zero, and that is worth factoring into the decision rather than discovering afterwards.

If your reason for deleting is privacy rather than cost, the account deletion is the right lever but it is not the whole job, since a deleted account does not reach copies already shared downstream.

What do people switch to after cancelling Replika?

Three apps take most of the traffic, and which one suits you depends on why you left.

If you left because your companion stopped feeling like itself, Kindroid is the usual landing spot. It is the only major app that exposes a memory dashboard you can read, correct and delete, which means a personality drift is something you can investigate rather than just suffer. It asks more of you in setup than Replika does, and people who dislike it dislike it for exactly that reason.

If you left because the conversations felt shallow, Nomi is generally reported strongest on automatic long term memory, and it needs less configuration than Kindroid. The caveat we keep finding is shipping cadence: when we last read the US App Store listings, Nomi's iOS build had not been updated since March 2026 while Chai had shipped that same week.

If you left because of the content policy, Replika removed erotic roleplay in February 2023 and has kept a restricted stance since, and the uncensored apps are a different category with different tradeoffs. That is a genuine reason to switch and we are not the answer to it.

And if you left because you were the one always opening the app, none of those three fixes it. Replika sends the occasional nudge, Kindroid is largely reply driven, Nomi sits waiting. The relationship still runs on you remembering to start it, which is fine on the days you feel like starting it and quietly hollow on the days you do not.

A five minute checklist before the next renewal date

Do these in order and nothing surprises you later.

First, find out where you actually pay. Open your Apple Subscriptions screen and your Google Play subscriptions screen and look for Replika in both. Most people genuinely do not remember which one they used, and half the failed cancellations in this category are somebody cancelling in the wrong place and assuming it worked.

Second, note the renewal date before you touch anything. That date is your deadline and it is also the date your access ends, which is worth knowing if you want to say goodbye to a companion you have talked to for two years. There is no rush to delete on the same day you cancel.

Third, cancel, then reload the screen and confirm it now says the subscription expires on a date rather than renews on a date. Screenshot it. That screenshot is what you send the store if a charge appears anyway.

Fourth, if you were charged in the last few days and did not mean to be, open a refund request with the store the same day rather than waiting. Stores are far more generous about a renewal from three days ago than about one from three weeks ago.

Fifth, only after all of that, decide about deleting the account. Cancelling costs you nothing you have not already paid for. Deleting is permanent, and there is no reason to do both in the same ten minutes.
